About Baobab Connect

Franci Lacquet, the founder of Baobab Connect, loves teaching people new skills the workshops she offeres. At the moment her main focus is teaching pottery. Her view is to enable people to connect through art in a relaxed and casual environment. She has a unique style and out-of-the-box ideas; never having much interest for latest trends. She’s a strong believer in an individualistic approach to the creative things in life.

Franci is formally trained in the art of fashion and architectural design, adding to her abstract and artistic flair with everything she creates. She started designing and creating from a very young age. The rural farmlands she grew up in, only added to her passion and inspiration that nature offered. Instead of going from shop to shop, she would design and make her own garments, or alter store-bought pieces to suit her style. She has carried this philosophy through to many aspects of her life.

Today, most of Franci’s inspiration comes from nature….and of course fabric, all kinds of fibres and architectural form.

The pottery bug bit her 35 years ago, and since then she’s been working with Master Potters and honing her skills on various techniques, materials and styles. She is excited to share her unique perspective with her students!

During her designing career, Franci mainly worked with individuals and loved the personal interaction that allowed. She has always been willing to share her knowledge with her clients (on request) by teaching them the basic skills of design and implementing these, in a calm and patient way. In her pottery studio, she loves working with form and colour and is eager to share her design and artistic skills with people who want to learn the art of pottery.

“It started with friends, and friends of friends, wanting to join in the fun and create their own unique masterpieces!”. Now, with excitement, Franci opened her home studio to students who want to learn the art of creating beautiful pottery. “Working with clay is good for the soul”, she says.

You’re invited to book a workshop and join in the fun while creating beautiful pottery, unique to your style.

Take note…their little dog, Ottis, may pop in from time to time as well…when you attend one of Franci’s workshops at her home pottery studio.

Alternatively, Franci is willing to travel to your venue for groups of 20 people or more. This needs to be arranged and booked 7 days prior to the event date.

PS: It’s always best to tailor courses according to client needs, so why don’t you let Franci know what you would like to learn and she can develop a tailored workshop for you and your friends.
